Blank Space on Documents to Be Recorded
Dear Associates:
Under new rules that went into effect on June 3rd of this year, the blank space in the top right-hand corner of instruments to be recorded has been enlarged to a 3-inch square on the first page of the instrument and a 1-l/2 by 3-inch rectangle on the subsequent pages.
The bill was supposed to have a July 1st effective date to allow time to order new forms that comply but in last minute changes that occurred in the legislative process, this effective date was omitted. There is no sanction for failure to comply in the law, but reasonable steps to comply as soon as possible should be taken.
