RE: LEGISLATIVE UPDATE - REMINDER Bulletin - Witness Addresses Needed for Recorded Documents

Dear Associates:

On June 27, 2023, we issued STG Bulletin FL2023003 summarizing selected legislation passed during the 2023 Regular Session that may impact the title industry. As a reminder, FS § 695.26 was amended to also require that the post office address of all witnesses be legibly printed, typewritten, or stamped in any recorded instrument which serves to convey, assign, encumber or otherwise dispose of the property effective January 1, 2024. Please ensure that the address of each witness is legibly printed, typewritten, or stamped on every instrument tendered for recording where a witness has executed the document, in addition to compliance with other required items under FS § 695.26.
