RE: RATES AND/OR FORMS UPDATE - Endorsement and Closing Protection Rate Change

Dear Associates:

Stewart Title Guaranty Company has received approval from the Department of Insurance for changes to its rates effective May 13, 2022. These rate changes primarily affect charges for endorsements and closing protection letters. A revised rate manual will be distributed to agents as soon as possible. 

Endorsements

Specific rates for ALTA or any other endorsements will no longer be charged by Stewart Title. Endorsements for special or unusual risks that are requested by the proposed insured and acceptable to the underwriter may be issued and charged for at a price agreed upon by Stewart and the insured.

Closing Protection Letters 

A fee of $25.00 per Closing Protection Letter (CPL) will be charged for the additional risk Stewart assumes when providing a CPL. The protection afforded by a CPL is separate and apart from the coverage provided under the title insurance policy; however, title insurance must be purchased as a condition for a CPL to become an available option. A CPL may be issued to the purchaser, lender, or seller in a purchase transaction, or to the borrower or lender in a refinance transaction. 

Agents are reminded to contact PropertyInfo Customer Care or their title production software vendor and request that the new rates/forms changes be implemented in their software platforms.
