As the Commonwealth of Virginia seeks to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus, many state and local government offices are limiting physical access to the public. Several Virginia Court Houses and associated Clerk’s Offices and Recording Desks temporarily closed or otherwise stopped accepting documents for recordation. However, per Order of the Virginia Supreme Court, all Clerks’ Offices in Virginia were directed to remain open for purposes of processing and recording documents. Stewart Title Guaranty Company (“Stewart”) is committed to our partners and to providing solutions to allow agents to continue closing and insuring transactions. By now you should have received Bulletin SLS2020002 outlining Stewart’s national guidelines which will apply in the event physical or online access to the Clerks’ Offices is not available. Please familiarize yourselves with this bulletin.
