Dear Associates:
Governor Wolf signed Acts 40 and 44 of 2017 on October 30, 2017. The Acts increased the Judicial Computer System/Access to Justice/Criminal Justice Enhancement Account Surcharge (“Surcharge”) applicable to most documents filed with the Recorders of Deeds (“ROD”).
The total Surcharge increase is $4.75 (from $35.50 to $40.25). While the Acts took effect immediately on October 30, 2017, various ROD offices are implementing the increase at different times; many are implementing the increase as of December 1, 2017.
Please be sure to confirm updated ROD fee schedules prior to closing to ensure you collect sufficient funds to record.
