Dear Associates:

This communication advises you of a scam involving a person or persons falsely representing themselves as employed by Stewart Title in the Accounts Payable Department.

We have received reports of emails sent by someone using the name and title "Janet Morgan, Senior Executive, Accounts Payable, Stewart Title." These bogus emails have been sent to outside entities to solicit the name and email address of that entity's accounting contact and perhaps to obtain copies of that entity's invoices to Stewart. The emails purport to need this information in order to process a payment from Stewart. In most cases, the recipients of these bogus emails do not do business with Stewart. Some are industry-type vendors (glass company, valve manufacturer, etc.).

These emails are false. This person has no affiliation with Stewart. This person is using Stewart's name without authorization. This information is being sought for some nefarious purpose, perhaps to divert payments and/or to obtain bank information.

Please be alert to suspicious emails that purport to be sent by anyone unknown to you at Stewart, particularly if they request financial information that can be misused. The perpetrators may use other fictitious names as well.
