Civil Union and Equality Act of 2011
Dear Associates:
On January 1, 2012, the Civil Union and Equality Act of 2011 will become effective. Said act has the effect of treating civil unions in Delaware the same as a tenancy by the entirety. Those parties to a civil union will be provided with the same benefits and protections as husband and wife in a tenancy by the entirety, such as preclusion from a judgment against one of the parties attaching to the property.
