RE: Change in Recording in Nassau County

Stewart Title Insurance Company has received the following information from the Nassau (NY) County Clerk’s office:

Due to the reduced staffing in the Clerk's Office, some procedures which have been in place need to be revised.  In an effort to best utilize our staff as well as provide the service which the public deserves, we must temporarily eliminate title company appointments.  To best accommodate the greatest number of filers, effective February 21st, all filings must be presented at the counter or by mail.  During this difficult fiscal time, we appreciate your efforts to assist us as we reevaluate our procedures and utilize our staff to best maximize our daily recording efforts.

When filing, please observe the following rules:

  1. First come first served
  2. You may never leave papers unattended
  3. You may not use papers as a place holder in the line
  4. You may present 10 papers per transaction
  5. 10 papers will include certified copies and rejections
  6. You may go back to the end of the line after the 10 papers were processed
  7. At 3:30 you may only present 5 papers per transaction

If you have any questions regarding these changes please contact the Office of the Nassau County Clerk directly.
