RE: Insured Closing Letters

This bulletin has been replaced by bulletin MU2009003.

Dear Associates:

Effective immediately, North Carolina issuing agents are directed to issue all insured closing protection letters for North Carolina transactions from the Stewart approved website: https://www.stewarticl.com.

Some agents currently incorporate the insured closing protection letter by reference as an exception or a note within the commitment. This is no longer permitted. All agents must use the Stewart ICL website to issue letters and include the letters in the commitments. The ICL website contains the most current and accurate information on approved attorneys in North Carolina. It also provides an accurate record of insured closing letters issued for premium and claims reconciliation.

If an agent is not currently registered with the online system, please contact Lucille Rolfes in the State office for log-in and password (lrolfes@stewart.com,  or 704-947-3755 x 43500) or contact Stewart Customer Care Center at 1-888-526-3282.

If you have questions relating to this bulletin, please contact North Carolina Underwriting Personnel or Stewart Legal Services.
