Before closing a transaction, all issuing offices must search the names of the parties to the transaction, including the seller, buyer/borrower, payoff lender and new lender, using the Special Alerts database.  Go to the Special Alerts database to search for specific names, entities and properties.

This Bulletin supplements Special Alert SA2009054 dated December 7, 2009, relating to AmTrust Bank.

You may obtain information about the status of a loan - whether it has been retained by the FDIC, as Receiver, or is being transferred to New York Community Bank - by contacting the Mortgage Consulting Center at 888-321-6446 or by emailing an inquiry to Closingagentsetup@amtrust.com. You must obtain current written instructions (which may be transmitted electronically) regarding a loan.

As of December 4, 2009, New York Community Bank is operating the former branches of AmTrust Bank as "AmTrust Bank, a division of New York Community Bank". You may comply with current written instructions (which may be transmitted electronically) relating to payoffs or new loans that describe them in this manner.
