RE: Title Insurance Licensing Requirements

Dear Associates:

NewIndiana legislation (House Enrolled Act 1452), effective July 1, 2007, requires title insurance licenses to be renewed every two (2) years instead of every four (4) years.  (I.C. 27-1-15.6-32).  The new legislation also requires anyone renewing their title insurance license to complete at least seven (7) hours of credit in continuing education courses within the two (2) year period rather than fourteen (14) hours of credit.  (I.C. 27-1-15.7-2).  The new renewal period and continuing education requirements will be in effect for new applicants after June 30, 2007.  According to the Department of Insurance, the new renewal period and continuing education requirements will not apply to those with existing licenses until their existing license expires and an application for renewal is made.
