For many years the Forms and Information Service Center in conjunction with Stewart Legal Services has sent out hard copies of Closing Alert Bulletins and Fraud Alert Bulletins to all our issuing offices including both affiliated offices and independent agents.
Many issuing offices have told us that they discard the hard copies of Closing Alert Bulletins and Fraud Alert Bulletins that they receive in the mail. Issuing offices have also advised us that they would prefer to receive these bulletins by e-mail and of course have the ability to run online searches at the Special Alerts web page.
The names of all individuals, financial institutions and other entities that have been reflected in these Closing Alert and Fraud Alert Bulletins are included in a searchable database that is available at http://specialalerts.stewart.com/ which can be directly accessed or as a link from Stewart.com or Virtual Underwriter. Both the Closing/Fraud Alerts database and the Patriot Act/Specially Designated Nationals database that issuing offices are required to search on all transactions can be searched automatically at the same time with no additional steps.
Based upon the preceding, Stewart Legal Services is going to discontinue the practice of sending out hard copies of Closing Alert Bulletins and Fraud Alert Bulletins effective January 1, 2006. If you would like to receive Closing Alert Bulletins and Fraud Alert Bulletins via e-mail, please register with us by sending an e-mail that includes the name of your issuing office, location, your Stewart Agent ID and your name to the following email address: ClosingBulletins@Stewart.com. No additional action on your part will be necessary. If you are already receiving Closing Alert and Fraud Alert Bulletins via e-mail it will still be necessary for you register by sending an e-mail as set forth herein so that we can establish one e-mail group for distribution of these bulletins.
